How to Delete Email Messages Print

There are several ways to delete an email in Webmail:

  • Select one or more emails and click Delete.
  • Open an email and click the Delete button.
  • Right-click an email and select Delete.
  • Press the Delete (Del) key on your keyboard.

Note:

  • If you delete multiple emails, you will be asked to confirm the action.
  • Deleting a single email will remove it immediately.
  • Dragging an email to the Deleted Items folder only moves the email. It does not apply your Delete Email Action setting.

Delete Email Action

You can choose what happens when you delete an email. To change this setting, go to Settings > Account > Email > Delete Email Action.

Move to Deleted Items Folder (Default)

  • Deleted emails are moved to the Deleted Items folder.
  • You can recover them later if needed.

Permanently Delete

  • Emails are deleted immediately.
  • Deleted emails cannot be recovered.

Warning: Permanently deleted emails cannot be restored.

Mark as Deleted

  • The email stays in its current folder but is marked as deleted.
  • To remove it permanently, right-click in the message list and select Purge Marked as Deleted.

Important Notes

  • Emails deleted from the Junk Email, Deleted Items, or Drafts folders are always permanently deleted.
  • The Delete Email Action only applies when deleting emails in Webmail.
  • If you use an email client such as Microsoft Outlook, the deletion behaviour depends on that application.
  • If you access your email using POP3, emails marked as deleted may be permanently removed automatically. To avoid this, use Move to Deleted Items Folder.

Delete All Emails in a Folder

To delete all emails in a folder:

  1. Right-click the folder.
  2. Select Delete All in Folder.
  3. Click Confirm to continue.

Note: Deleting all emails from the Junk Email or Deleted Items folder will permanently remove them.

Restore Deleted Emails

If your Delete Email Action is Move to Deleted Items Folder

  1. Open the Deleted Items folder.
  2. Select the email you want to restore.
  3. Click Undelete or drag the email back to its original folder.

If your Delete Email Action is Mark as Deleted

  1. Select the email marked as deleted.
  2. Right-click and select Undelete.
  3. The email will be restored to its normal status.
